PAR CHANNA DE a mysterious love story of Sohni and Mahiwal composed in a melodious way. A Punjabi air blowing in the mind of thousands. Each sentence explores the endurance of Sohini and Mahiwal.


The Story behind the lyrics-
Sohini (the protagonist) belongs to a Potter family, his father used to do pottery. Mahiwal (a trader) was a boy from a rich family visited Sohini's village. One day he went to Sohini's father shop and saw Sohini. He got mesmerized by seeing her. For manifesting his love for Sohini, Mahiwal helped Sohini's family in feeding the buffaloes and earned his position as a Buffalo herder in the village. Sohini was dazzled by his efforts and accepted his love towards her, and they decided to marry. But unfortunately Sohini's family was against this marriage. The reason was that Mahiwal was not from their community, so they decided to bring someone else for Sohini and get her married with him. They eventually did that. After that Mahiwal becomes a Hermit and starts leading his life in a hut near Chenab River which was also near to Sohini's new home.
Sohini and Mahiwal was grief sticken. Sohini used to cross the Chenab river everyday to meet Mahiwal, she made an inverted cooked claypot to cross the river. But this didn't work for long. Soon the rumours regarding Sohini and Mahiwal's relationship started spreading. So, One day Sohini's sister in law decided to end this. She made a tragic way by replacing the baked claypot with an unbaked claypot so that Sohini can't swim. She did what she thought, and unfortunately that night when Sohini tried to cross the river with the unbaked claypot it easily got dissolved in the water and Sohini started drowning. Mahiwal, on the other side of the river watching Sohini get drown into the water got panicked, he came to help Sohini, but unfortunately couldn't find a way for himself too, as he also started drowning while helping her. Down in the dumps, both drowned and united after death.
